Plaid Cymru responds to new rules for pubs and restaurants in Wales after fire break

Plaid Cymru’s Shadow Minister for Economy, Helen Mary Jones MS said,

“Businesses will be glad that they can reopen but the Welsh Government needs to issue the detailed guidance quickly so that they know in detail what is expected of them.

“There will still be some businesses that cannot open safely or profitably. Government needs to provide targeted long term support for the businesses that need it most. We have to move on from the broad brush, first come first served approach to business support.

“However, I’m pleased to give a cautious welcome to the fact that people from more than two households can meet in pubs, cafes and restaurants.  Loneliness is a big issue and can take a huge toll on mental wellbeing.”
