The UK Government / Welsh Government and MOD have made honest comments regarding the current state and requirement of UK armed forces. Across the UK are a number of Defence and security Clusters aimed at supporting the needs and capability of the UKs armed forces.
The objective being to “mobilise and utilise” the support, development, innovation and creativity of local Small and medium enterprise businesses to support the capability.
We have seen in Ukraine and now the Middle East the importance of drones and other such “new” developments. On Monday 9th March the Wales defence and security Cluster was launched in Cardiff aimed at Welsh businesses and entrepreneurs accessing this market into MOD business.
Recent increase in spending indicates that due to current worrying geopolitical situation the UK needs to be able to be able to answer and protect against any threat. I have attached a copy of the flyer and a link to the Cluster website below and would urge any businesses which may fit the need to consider registering.
There are many requirements that the Cluster is looking for and your business and ideas may be something they would value and require. One comment from one of the presenters on Monday was “we need a cottage industry.” This is not just about drones it is about cyber space and other technologies etc and small easily replaced units that would provide UK forces with a level playing filed and reduce casualty numbers in any future conflict.
