Reform UK Wales Announces  Candidate Team for Carmarthenshire Ahead of Landmark 2026 Senedd Elections

Reform UK Wales has unveiled its full slate of six candidates for the Sir Gaerfyrddin (Carmarthenshire) constituency in the Welsh Parliament (Senedd) elections on Thursday 7 May 2026.

The list is led by Gareth Beer, Reform UK’s lead candidate and Carmarthenshire Branch Chairman.  A local businessman, father of four, Kidwelly Town Councillor and Carmarthenshire Reform UK Chairman, Gareth Beer nearly achieved a historic breakthrough in the July 2024 General Election. He secured 11,247 votes in Llanelli, just1,504 votes behind Labour, delivering Reform UK’s strongest result in Wales and sending a clear signal of growing public frustration with the status quo.

“I am thrilled to lead this exceptional team of candidates. Carmarthenshire now has a strong lineup of decent, dedicated and hard-working individuals who are rooted in our communities and ready to fight for the people of Carmarthenshire in Cardiff Bay.

“Our campaign is already in full swing, and the feedback on the doorsteps has been overwhelmingly positive. Residents across the constituency have had enough of broken promises, endless spin, and failed policies from the old parties. They are crying out for a genuine alternative that puts common sense first and delivers real change for Wales.

“People are turning to support Reform because they recognise how the current parties have led the country to its current long NHS waiting lists, declining standards in education, a stagnant economy, the escalating cost-of-living crisis, and net zero policies that threaten jobs, energy security, and the rural landscapes.”

The full Reform UK candidate list for Sir Gaerfyrddin / Carmarthenshire (in order) is:

  1. Gareth Beer – Local businessman, father of four, Kidwelly Town Councillor and Carmarthenshire Reform UK Chairman. A strong advocate for free speech, supporting farmers, and rural communities, Gareth is committed to creating better opportunities for young people and protecting Wales’ traditional industries.
  2. Carmelo Colasanto – Father of two, County and Community Councillor, and seasoned retail and business professional with extensive senior experience in compliance, international standards, and crime and loss prevention within FTSE 100 and multinational companies. Having first worked in Llanelli 27 years ago, he returned to the town nine years ago after forming a deep bond with the area and its residents. He is standing to bring practical, results-driven change for a fairer and more prosperous Wales.
  3. Sarah Edwards – Retired dental professional, smallholder, and dedicated champion of local communities and the Welsh countryside. A prominent “No Pylons” campaigner, Sarah is fiercely opposed to the wholesale industrialisation of Wales’ green landscapes through unwanted energy infrastructure.
  4. Christopher Brooke – Originally from Wrexham and now living in Carmarthenshire. A retired engineer and manager with 46 years’ experience in high-speed industrial manufacturing at a multinational company. Christopher decided to stand for Reform UK because he could no longer stand by and watch Wales sink further into decline.
  5. Alan Cole – Highly experienced senior corporate leader, having held roles with LG Electronics and Sanyo (responsible for UK & Ireland), former director at HomeServe plc (FTSE 500), and board director of an independent national retailer that he helped grow from £9 million to £65 million in turnover. For the past 15 years, Alan has run his own business supporting thousands of small businesses across South Wales, working closely with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). “The Welsh economy will never grow without small business growth. Small businesses make up 99% of the private sector and employ 62% of the workforce in Wales. Only Reform UK is prepared to champion small businesses properly,” said Alan, who was born and raised in South Wales and has three daughters and six grandchildren. He joined Reform UK because he sees it as the last real hope to repair a broken Britain.
  6. Michelle Beer – Mother of four, marketing and PR professional, and Reform UK County Councillor for the Lliedi ward in Llanelli. In May 2025, Michelle achieved a stunning by-election victory, defeating Labour in one of their traditional strongholds. She became Carmarthenshire’s first-ever Reform UK councillor in a result that sent shockwaves through the local political establishment. In 2023, Michelle stood alongside hundreds of concerned residents and families in Llanelli to oppose plans to convert the iconic Stradey Park Hotel into a migrant hotel — a move that would have resulted in the loss of a well-known four-star venue and nearly 100 local jobs. After sustained community pressure, the Home Office abandoned the proposals in October 2023.

This diverse team brings real-world expertise from business, engineering, healthcare, public service, and grassroots advocacy. United by a shared commitment to practical, common-sense policies, the candidates are focused on delivering tangible improvements: repairing the NHS, raising educational standards, boosting economic growth, easing the cost-of-living burden on families, and rejecting ideological net zero targets that risk harming Welsh jobs, energy bills, and the countryside.

        One of the best things on the manifesto is cancelling Net Zero so this country can start manufacturing again.
        All our core rights will be kept, the Equalities Act has to be changed to get rid of DEI which is allowing discrimination against white people, in the work place.

      • Beth Denman Wales will only ever start manufacturing again when we get the money to do so. An English government will see that we don’t get the money. They always have. Wales will always come last to the English.
        Once the equality act is destroyed, Nige will make sure the younger generation are paid less, he said so himself. Companies can choose to pay women less and not give maternity leave. Which will happen. Men will be paid more.
        You can try and paint it in whatever light you wish. It’s what will happen.
        Nige has stated that the younger generation are being paid too much when they start work!

        He has also stated we shouldn’t speak Welsh.
        The national anthem should be sung in English or be God save the king.
        The Welsh sports teams should be team GB.
        The list is never ending.
        Nige has no interest in helping Wales in any way.
        He hates us Welsh.

        My son is also autistic. Reform want to strip away lifelines for autistic children. They won’t be allowed to wear head gear in classes which help dull the noise so they can function and focus. They want them to learn just like all the others. Yet most need an LSA and support.
        My son is home educated because of this. I’m an ex LSA. I want the best for him and I know schools can’t offer that as it is. If Reform get in….. It’s going to get worse!
        Imagine voting to damn disabled children.
        That’s exactly what a vote for Reform will do.

  14. Who are they all? Apart from the recently elected Llanelli town councillor Michelle Beer in the far right (I’m not trying to be political) from KIdwelly I haven’t got a clue. Can we have a line up of names so that we can put faces to names on the ballot paper. However, you can only vote for the party, even though their names are shown, as the’ve already been selected by their own parties. They will be appointed to seats depending on the party votes received unless they’re independent candidates, like Stephen Williams from Llanelli, who you can vote for personally. Confused? You’re not the only one. Good luck!

Who, in agony, can wait 4 years for a hip replacement? And now, private surgeons are taking advantage of that by greatly increasing their costs. Being in that untenable position my quote for a hip replacement increased from £12,000 to £14,500 in 6 weeks while accessing the funds! That was 2 years ago. I now need the other replaced – no savings left.
        It’s fair to say that even though I have worked and contributed all my life – the NHS didn’t conceive of the advancement in technology and the cost of implementing heart, liver, kidney transplants and joint replacements of today. So the question probably needs asking is – if those who can afford to pay – should they contribute at least SOME of the cost?

  61. Reform will move to insurance based healthcare, free when you arrive at the point of use but you WILL PAY via insurance premiums and excess, that’s if and when insurance agrees treatment. Anything else they say is semantics. The triple lock will go, pensions will be less. Reform have no wales specific policy, just rhetoric. Women, renters, and workers will all have less rights and reform have consistently voted against any increase in rights for these groups. Reform policy is misogynistic, as are their personal attitudes towards women. They are tories, recycled and will implement austerity deeper than the tories the first time around. They dismiss global warming and can’t accept the scientific basis for this. They have cancelled things like flood protection in their councils. Think about that if you have a home affected by flooding. They are funded by the fossil fuel industry which is why they dismiss renewable energy despite its benefits for lowering bills and providing an independent, infinite energy source for the uk. They have no costed policy in any area. Their councils have cut services such as care homes, day centres, Teaching assistants and send provision, whilst increasing salaries for themselves. You can check this for yourselves if you’re capable of looking at anything outside the reform echo chamber. Council tax exemption has been removed from low income families. Immigration is due to be net Zero in 2026. This will have financial implications for.the UK. Reforms assertions about the number of asylum seekers, criminality, and impact on services is ENTIRELY FALSE. There is NO factual evidence to support them. You will be poorer, have fewer rights, and be taken in once again by the brexit con man who already cost Wales hundreds of million every year

  73. It’s pretty clear that Reform UK’s vote is declining. More and more people are starting to look into their actual policy, (singular), their broader political ideal and finding absolutely nothing.
    The merest hint of media scrutiny is having an effect, and that’s despite Reform avoiding certain journalists and preventing them from attending press conferences.
