“Following the sudden news that Stradey Park Hotel in Llanelli has ceased trading with immediate effect.
“Our immediate concern is for the staff who have lost their livelihoods without warning.
“This abrupt closure will cause significant financial and personal anxiety for those employees and their families, and they must now be our priority.
“I have written to the Leader of Carmarthenshire County Council for work to be undertaken swiftly with relevant agencies, including employment support services, to ensure that affected staff receive clear guidance on redundancy rights, access to benefits where necessary, and opportunities for retraining or redeployment within the local hospitality and tourism sector.
“The hotel has long been an important part of Llanelli’s economy and identity. It is essential urgent clarification is given from the owners regarding their intentions.
“This to support all those affected and secure a positive outcome for the site.”

Like many in our community, I was shocked to hear of the immediate closure of the Stradey Park Hotel.
Since reopening, staff have worked tirelessly to rebuild its reputation and restore confidence in the business. The hotel has hosted numerous successful events, maintained healthy accommodation bookings, and re-established itself as a key venue within the local leisure sector. The recent agreement with the Scarlets to act as their chosen accommodation provider demonstrated that the hotel’s brand and standing were once again on a positive trajectory.
At 4:40pm yesterday, as soon as I became aware of the situation, I contacted members of staff directly to check on their wellbeing. Later that evening, I met with staff in person at the hotel. At present, they remain unclear about the full circumstances surrounding the closure and what happens next.
The immediate priority must be the workforce. Dedicated local employees are once again facing the threat of losing their livelihoods through no fault of their own, following decisions taken far from Llanelli.
There are also important structural questions that now need to be carefully examined. The hotel’s business model — with some bedrooms individually owned and separate from the core hotel operations such as reception and restaurant facilities — may create complications in securing a swift solution. However, these challenges must not become barriers. We will work constructively to understand the position fully and to explore practical ways to overcome any such complications.
Over the coming days, I will continue to engage with staff and seek further clarity. I raised this immediately on hearing of it with local government and will also engage Welsh government to determine what support, intervention, or collaborative action may be possible and that staff welfare and futures are supported.
Stradey Park Hotel has long been an important part of Llanelli’s hospitality, tourism, and events sector. Every effort must now be made to protect jobs and secure a sustainable future for this vital local asset.
From the events over the last few years it is clear that this hotel needs to be owned by an individual or group of individuals deeply rooted in the area who see what the Stradey Park Hotel has to offer to help Llanelli and Carmarthenshire grow its vital leisure industry.

Could be the bank has pulled funding or a HMRC issue.

Ashan Allah, sometimes spelled Ahsan Ullah or Ahsanullah) is the owner of the Stradey Park Hotel in Llanelli. He is the CEO of Ullcom Limited, which acquired the majority shareholding in late 2024 following the hotel’s controversial use as asylum accommodation.
Dont think there loyal customer nase have ever forhoven them since they cancelled prebooked finctions and weddings and sacked the staff when there was a oppertunoty for them to take on the assylum seekers instead

Please can anyone let us know how we get hold of the owner. We have heard nothing about our refund for my daughter’s wedding in less than 6 months time. I’ve sent an email and tried ringing the hotel but have received no reply
