Following a visit to Stebonheath School Primary School, Llanelli, earlier this year, World Peace Tartan Ambassador Paolo Piana, returned to the school to spend a day with the pupils and staff.
Paolo, spent the day with four classes spanning a range of age groups. They discussed Peace initiatives that pupils had come up with themselves, all very achievable that will make a difference in the school, the community, the environment and the wider world. All the pupils’ ideas were based on the teaching of M.K.(Mahatma) Gandhi i.e., “Be The Change you wish to see in the World”.
Speaking on behalf of Stebonheath School, teacher Kath Williams said:
“It wasn’t just beneficial for the young people involved but it has given us actions for change to use within the school for the biggest impact on our school and the community on our peace journey.
“The young people now feel a sense of ownership and are empowered to make these changes with the support of the school staff and the headteacher. Hearing quotes and stories about famous peace makers really inspired them and hearing the message of the Peace tartan was very powerful. Today gave the pupils a voice and wow their ideas were outstanding!
“A huge thank you to you Paolo for such inspirational peace sessions in our school. We can’t wait to invite him back to see our projects in action”.
Founder of the World Peace tartan Initiative sent a message to the school:
“Hello to all the staff and pupils of Stebonheath School. Such a joy to see you are so engaged with our Ambassador Mr Paolo Piana. Each and every one of you is making a change in the world. Never give up pursuing your dreams and contributing to building a culture of peace in your homes, your school, your neighbourhood, your town, your country and the world! In September, Paolo was in Ysgol Penrhos to attend a special school assembly for World Peace Day.
