- A total of 5 community groups across Wales have received funding totalling £77,774 through the Asda Foundation’s Local Community Spaces fund

Asda’s charity, The Asda Foundation, has awarded £77,774 to 5 community groups across Wales through its Local Community Spaces fund.
The grants form part of a transformative £1.25 million in funding which has been awarded to 79 community projects across the UK aimed at revitalising local spaces where people connect, access vital services and build stronger communities.
From village halls and community centres to youth hubs and churches, each of the 79 grants, ranging from £10,000 to £20,000, will support the development, improvement, or repair of community spaces – ensuring they remain safe, inclusive, and fit for purpose.
The initiative follows findings from Asda’s latest Community Insight Tracker, which revealed 42% of community groups believe access to safe and inclusive spaces is one of the most important issues the Foundation should support. Mental health and crime prevention also ranked highly, according to data from Asda Community Insight Tracker Report Q2 2025, highlighting the need for welcoming places where communities can thrive.
Among the 5 Welsh groups awarded funding are Rassau Resource Community Centre CIC, Ebbw Vale – £16,099. Brynmawr Celf o Gwmpas, Llandrindod Wells – £20,000. Brynmawr Llanelli Centre For The Deaf – £20,000. Menai bridge Community Heritage Trust in Llangefni – £10,925 and Llay Church of the Nazarene, Wrexham – £10,750.
Llanelli Centre for the Deaf has been a vital community hub for over 75 years, dedicated to enriching the lives of Deaf individuals and their families in Llanelli and surrounding areas, including Carmarthenshire, Cardigan, and Pembrokeshire.
The group have been awarded a £20,000 Local Community Spaces grant to upgrade the Centre’s flooring and stairs, which currently pose safety, and accessibility concerns due to deterioration. This comprehensive renovation includes replastering the hall stairs and landing, installing new durable and accessible flooring throughout the first floor and stairways, painting walls and ceilings to refresh the space, and adding a purpose-built storage unit to improve organisation.
Social isolation is a particular challenge, and the club plays a vital role in fostering connection and belonging. This funding will help maintain a safe and accessible environment, enabling the club to continue offering meaningful activities and support.
