A Llanelli care home is celebrating after being named a finalist in two categories at the prestigious Caring UK Awards 2026.

Ashley Court Care Home, operated by Premier 1 Healthcare Ltd, has been shortlisted for Regional Care Home of the Year – Midlands & Wales, as well as Excellence and Innovation in Dementia Care.

The double recognition is a proud achievement for the team at Ashley Court, which provides residential and dementia care and has worked to create an environment where residents are supported not simply to receive care, but to continue enjoying meaningful, active and fulfilling lives.

The home places a strong emphasis on creating a genuine community for its residents, with activities, events and opportunities designed to encourage social interaction, independence and enjoyment.

More recently, Ashley Court has continued to develop its dementia-friendly facilities, including the creation of a new on-site café where residents can spend time with relatives and friends in a relaxed and familiar environment.

Lakshmy Pengelly, Director of Premier 1 Healthcare Ltd, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have been named finalists in not one, but two categories at this year’s Caring UK Awards.

“What makes this particularly special is that the two categories recognise different aspects of what we try to achieve at Ashley Court – the overall quality of our home and our approach to dementia care.

“There is sometimes still a perception that moving into a care home means giving up the life you had before. We want Ashley Court to be the opposite of that. Our residents should continue to laugh, socialise, try new things, spend time with the people they love and remain very much part of their community.

“This recognition belongs to our whole team. Our staff work incredibly hard and genuinely care about the people who live with us. Being shortlisted nationally is a wonderful acknowledgement of what they do every day.

“Of course, we would love to win, but we’re going to enjoy the experience whatever happens and are incredibly proud just to have made the finals in both categories.”

The Caring UK Awards celebrate excellence throughout the care sector, recognising individuals and organisations making a difference to the lives of people receiving care.

The Ashley Court team will now look forward to the awards ceremony later this year, where the winners will be announced.
