Carmarthenshire County Council is inviting photographers of all abilities to take part in a new photography competition celebrating the county’s stunning landscapes, coastline, wildlife, heritage, culture and communities.

The competition, titled “We Know a Place… Show Us Yours”, launched this October encourages entrants to capture the unique character of Carmarthenshire through their own lens and share the images that best tell the story of the county.

The competition is being delivered in partnership with Llanelli Photographic Society and Coleg Sir Gâr, helping to engage both established photographers and emerging creative talent from across the county.

Photographs can be entered into one of four categories:

  • Heritage & Culture
  • Landscapes & Coast
  • Wildlife & Animals
  • Events & Festivals

Selected photographs will be showcased in a public exhibition at a County Council venue, providing photographers with an opportunity to have their work displayed to residents and visitors alike.

Entries may also be featured across Discover Carmarthenshire’s website, social media channels and future tourism marketing campaigns.

The competition is open to everyone, from enthusiastic amateurs and hobbyists to experienced photographers.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans, said:

Carmarthenshire is home to some truly inspiring landscapes, coastlines, heritage sites, events and communities, and this competition is a wonderful opportunity to showcase them through the eyes of those who know and love the county best. We are encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get involved, whether you’re an experienced photographer or simply enjoy taking photographs while exploring the county. We look forward to seeing the images submitted and sharing a selection of them through exhibitions at Carmarthenshire County Council venues, as well as through our wider tourism marketing activity, helping to celebrate and promote all that Carmarthenshire has to offer.”

Entries open in October 2026. Email your photograph to Tourism@carmarthenshire.gov.uk

Further details, competition guidelines and entry information will be available on the website Carmarthenshire photograph competition
