Carmarthenshire County Council has announced that bin collections will begin earlier than usual tomorrow (Thursday 9 July) and on Friday 10 July 2026, due to the forecast of high temperatures.
To help protect the health, safety and wellbeing of frontline crews working in hot weather, collections will start at 5am instead of the usual 6am on both days.
This also includes garden waste and hygiene/nappy waste collections. Residents are being asked to put their bins out the night before, or before 5am on their collection day.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Waste and Infrastructure Services, Cllr Edward Thomas, said:
The welfare of our crews is our priority, particularly during periods of very hot weather. By starting collections earlier, we can help reduce staff exposure to the hottest part of the day while continuing to provide essential services for residents. We are asking residents to support us by putting their waste out the night before, or before 5am on their collection day. Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation while these temporary arrangements are in place.”
