Llanelli’s Senedd Member, Lee Waters, is encouraging all 16-25 year olds, as well as teaching staff, to take up the Welsh Government’s offer of free Welsh Lessons.
The local MS stated:
“This is a great opportunity for young people looking to improve their Welsh, boost their confidence and also, boost the number of Welsh speakers in Wales.”
From September, 18-25 year olds will be able to enrol free-of-charge on courses with the National Centre for Learning Welsh; with 16–18 year olds who attend school, college or an apprenticeship scheme, being given a chance to improve their Welsh speaking skills through a new e-learning pilot resource.
Lee Waters MS said:
“In 2019, there were around 850,000 Welsh speakers in Wales. Our aim is to reach one million by 2050. Initiatives such as this are a huge step to achieving that aim, which is why I am glad that the Welsh Government is providing the necessary resources to help make this happen.”
“I really want to encourage anyone who is eligible to sign up and develop their skills.”
The Welsh Government has committed to providing free Welsh language learning for all 16 to 25-year-olds in its Co-Operation Agreement with Plaid Cymru.
